About SinoSoloTravel

A systems-first travel guide built by someone who has navigated China as a foreigner — not just visited it.

Why This Site Exists

Most China travel content falls into one of two traps: either it's a generic "top 10 temples" list written from a press trip, or it's a Reddit thread that's three years out of date. Neither helps you figure out how to actually function in China as an independent foreign traveler in 2026.

SinoSoloTravel was built to answer a different question: not "what should I see?" but "exactly how do I get there, pay, communicate, and solve the problem in front of me?"

How We Verify Information

Every guide on this site is marked with a "Last Verified" date. When that date is more than 6 months old, we flag it for re-verification. China's travel landscape — visa policies, payment systems, hotel registration requirements — changes faster than most travel content is updated.

Hotels in the database are verified by direct contact or personal stay. Compliance scores are updated when verified reports of changes come in from travelers who email us or leave comments.

Our Editorial Stance

This site carries affiliate links for products we personally use and recommend — specifically VPN services (Astrill, ExpressVPN) and eSIM providers (Airalo). We only recommend products we've tested in the environments described. Affiliate relationships do not affect editorial ratings or rankings.

Contact & Corrections

Found something out of date? Made a trip and discovered something exciting? We genuinely want to know. Send us an email at [email protected]. Accuracy and new excitements are the only things that make this site useful.
